ABOUT US
In 2021, while working as a Labor and Delivery Room nurse in Irving, Becky met a young mother who arrived at the hospital alone. Her only companion was her first baby, still in an infant car seat. An hour later, her boyfriend arrived and decided to take their first child home, leaving this young mom to deliver her second baby in a room full of strangers. In that critical moment, not a single person from her life showed up for her.
Becky quietly slipped the young mom a telephone number and shared information about a ministry for teen moms she was volunteering with. That moment planted the seeds that bloomed into Love Is: A Ministry for Teen Parents. When Becky shared this story with the ministry she was volunteering with, Marcella took an immediate interest. Her encouragement and eagerness to jump in were exactly what was needed to get the nonprofit off the ground. Together, they set out to find a way to serve young parents in Irving, and in 2023, Love Is was formed.
Today we are serving 22 teen moms in the Irving area. Each of these young women weighs heavily on our hearts. We worry for them, cheer for them, and love them! They are doing the incredibly hard and important work of raising the next generation- yet they are so often forgotten, overlooked, or rejected.
At Love Is, we are here to change that. Through mentorship, community, and local resources, we walk alongside teen parents, ensuring they never have to face parenthood alone. Because love is more than a word- it’s action, presence, and unwavering support.
Our Mission
To embody Jesus’s love to vulnerable teen parents by providing mentorship and resources that empower teens in a healthy, safe space so they can flourish with dignity, hope, and faith.
Our Vision:
A nurturing community where every teen parent feels loved, supported, and empowered through Christ and supported by mentors who encourage and uplift them.
